Honeywell announced the launch of Experion LX, a distributed control system (DCS) built specifically for small and medium-sized businesses for continuous and batch process control applications. Experion LX is designed for smaller plants — fewer than 5,000 I/O points, an engineering server, and up to 15 operator stations — that require a control system that is easy to use, yet powerful enough to handle today’s complex installations. Incorporating technology from Honeywell’s mature and widely used Experion Process Knowledge System (PKS), it provides process manufacturers with a flexible way to improve plant reliability, safety and efficiency, and helps with rapid implementation and lower total lifecycle costs. Experion LX provides users of mid-size processing plants with reliable control systems without a single point of failure and a well-designed user interface to help operators and engineers increase efficiency. For end users using batch processing, the batch execution software runs in a redundant controller rather than a computer, eliminating the need for additional hardware and reducing the communication load and execution time at each batch stage. Experion LX is designed to be delivered through a system integrator, ultimately benefiting Honeywell customers in terms of fast local configuration and support. With Experion LX’s ability to seamlessly integrate with third-party devices and drives, end users will enjoy the benefits of working with a single vendor for all of their needs, from field instrumentation to distributed control systems.

“Just like large refineries, small industrial businesses need to manage their processes safely and efficiently,” said Don Maness, vice president, Honeywell Process Solutions, PQV80020041. “With Experion LX, we make Honeywell’s proven DCS technology available to a more diverse range of manufacturing facilities. It provides a purpose-built system that is flexible enough to meet their specific needs now and in the future. It is also easy to implement and use, which allows our customers to get to market faster and respond more nimbly to product changes.”

“Experion LX provides scalable solutions for our industrial processes and power users. “Customers simply decide the level of automation that best suits their current business, and Experion LX is able to scale as their business grows,” said Henkie Leo, president and director of PT Zug Industries, Indonesia. “We are confident that Experion LX’s proven C300 controller and the numerous innovations in this DCS will meet our customers’ needs for increased business flexibility and optimized total cost of ownership. “Honeywell is a Fortune 100 diversified technology and manufacturing leader, providing aerospace products and services to customers around the world; Building, domestic and industrial control technologies; Turbocharger; And performance materials.
