Description
The NI PXIe-1078 is a low-cost 9-slot AC (AC) chassis from National Instruments that is highly flexible and can support the combination of PXI and PXI Express modules. It has a 4-slot wide system controller slot that can accept embedded controllers, remote controllers, and eight peripheral slots. The PXIe-1078 offers three PXI Express slots and five PXI hybrid slots, where the hybrid slots are compatible with PXI Express modules or standard PXI modules.
The chassis’s backplane is capable of one-way routing the three PCI Express links of the system slot to the peripheral slot at a speed of 250 MB/s per link. In addition, the PXIe-1078 chassis is equipped with an x1 PCIe link to a PCIe to PCI conversion bridge. It accepts a 4-slot wide PXI Express embedded controller and is configured with the Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX) tool.
The PXIe-1078 chassis is fully compliant with PXI timing and synchronization standards and features a 10 MHz reference clock with an accuracy of +/-25 ppm, less than 3 ps, and a maximum slot-to-slot skew of 100 ps. In order to maintain the cooling of the module, a filler panel can be inserted into any empty slot and secured using a mounting screw. The case also features an automatic/high fan speed selector that provides high fan speeds to maximize cooling and reduce noise.
