Description

The GE original HYDRAN M2 fault gas detector is an online continuous monitoring device designed specifically for critical equipment such as transformers. It is mainly used to monitor and detect fault gases in transformers, in order to warn of potential faults in transformers. The following is a detailed analysis of the detector:
1、 Product Overview
The GE HYDRAN M2 fault gas detector adopts advanced sensor technology and data processing algorithms, which can monitor the dissolved gases and moisture in transformer oil in real time and accurately, thereby helping users detect and prevent transformer faults in a timely manner and ensuring the safe operation of the power system.
2、 Main functions and features
Multi gas detection:
HYDRAN M2 can monitor various fault gases, including acetylene, hydrogen, carbon monoxide, etc., and can promptly detect potential faults inside the transformer.
Users can choose between traditional “composite gas” sensors or more basic “hydrogen only” sensors according to their needs. The composite gas sensor responds 100% to hydrogen gas (usually the fault gas), and is also sensitive to carbon monoxide (paper), acetylene (arc), and ethylene (oil).
Real time monitoring and alarm:
By monitoring the gas concentration in the transformer in real-time, abnormal situations can be detected in a timely manner, and alarm and warning functions can be provided to help prevent faults from occurring.
Support intelligent alarm function, which can alarm according to preset thresholds and rules, reduce false alarm rate, and improve the accuracy and effectiveness of alarms.
When abnormal levels of faulty gas or moisture are detected, an alarm will be triggered, and two alarm levels can be set (one as “alarm” and the other as “alarm”) to display an increase in severity.
High precision measurement:
High precision measuring components such as capacitor electrodes and thermal conductivity sensors are used to ensure the accuracy and reliability of measurement results.
The measurement range is wide, with a moisture measurement range of 0-10000 ppm and a hydrogen measurement range of 0-10000 ppm, with an accuracy of ± 10% or ± 25 ppm.
Online monitoring and data analysis:
It can achieve online monitoring of moisture and hydrogen concentration in transformer oil, and convert the received data into useful real-time information to further understand the overall health status of the transformer.
Based on the IEEE standard transformer mathematical model, conduct a more in-depth analysis of the transformer condition.
Multiple communication interfaces and remote monitoring:
Supports multiple communication interfaces and protocols, such as RS485, TCP/IP, RS232, and MODBUS, simplifying integration with SCADA or DCS systems.
Support remote monitoring function, which can remotely access and monitor the fault gas situation of transformers through the network, facilitating operation and maintenance personnel to take timely measures.
High reliability and stability:
Adopting a third-generation mature design, with a large global installation volume, and supporting new low flammability ester oils and mineral transformer insulation oils.
Automatically self check once every 15 days, and if a fault is detected (including power outage, oil valve closure, sensor failure, etc.), a service alarm will be triggered.
Easy to install and maintain:
The design is simple, easy to install, and can be flexibly deployed in different positions of transformers, suitable for transformers of different models and specifications.
No on-site calibration is required, reducing maintenance workload.
3、 Application scenarios
The GE HYDRAN M2 fault gas detector is widely used in important medium-sized transformers in power facilities, as well as industrial plants and other places that require stable power supply. By continuously monitoring the dissolved gases and moisture in transformer oil, potential problems can be detected in the early stages of transformer failures, thereby minimizing the risk of unexpected power outages.
