Handshaking is the process of transmitting signals from DTE to DCE in order to establish a connection before actual data transmission. The message transmission between the transmitter and receiver can be completed through handshake.
There are three handshake processes named:-
If there is no handshake in PM511V16, then DCE reads the received data and DTE sends the next data. All received data is stored in a memory location called the receiver buffer. This buffer can only store one bit, so the receiver must read the buffer before the next bit arrives. If the receiver cannot read the bits stored in the buffer and the next bit arrives, the stored bits will be lost.
It uses specific serial ports, namely RTS&CTS, to control data flow.
·During this process, the sender asks the receiver if they are ready to receive data, and then the receiver checks if the buffer is empty. If it is, they send a signal to the sender informing me that they are ready to receive data.
·When the received data cannot be read, the receiver sends a signal to the transmitter not to send any data.
·The working process is the same as the handshake mentioned above.

PM511V16 software handshake:
·During this process, there are two forms, namely X on and X off. Here, ‘X’ is the transmitter. ● X-ON is part of its recovery of data transmission.
X-OFF is the part where data transmission is suspended.
·It is used to control data flow and prevent loss during transmission.
